Let’s Talk Bespoke Clothing with O.S.K. Styles interviews Omar S. Kinnebrew, Luxury Clothier and Founder of O.S.K. Styles. Kinnebrew takes us through his journey of creating a pocket-square holder when he was looking to solve the problem of his pocket squares falling down. While working for corporate America, he taught himself how to sew by watching videos.
Kinnebrew did not “always want to be an entrepreneur”. His journey follows many entrepreneurs in that he went the route of corporate American and saw himself ascending the corporate ladder. Like many entrepreneurs, he was unexpectedly laid off from his job but had built his company up to a point where he did not have to go back to work for anybody else.
Kinnebrew’s noticed an opportunity in the custom clothing space to provide exceptional value without the astronomical price tag. His goal with starting the company was to be able to personally replace his entire wardrobe. So the offerings go well beyond just the custom suit. O.S.K. Styles offers custom shoes, overcoats, denim, sneakers, belts and garment bags! Omar discusses his quality control with the production houses that he has in Spain, Italy and Asian countries.
Omar’s eyes light up when he gets an opportunity to discuss the garments that he is wearing during the interview, especially his custom Burgundy Double-Monks that are so comfortable that he wears them without socks!
His business acumen comes on display when discussing recommendations to aspiring entrepreneurs. Omar reminds us to give 110% everyday because there is always a competitor out there who is willing to put in the effort. He also cautions about financially exposing yourself but rather to run your business on a “shoestring budget” - even if your sales are doing well. There is also a great piece of advice for those of you who are looking to secure intellectual property, i.e. patents, trademarks, etc.
