Uncle Nearest Whiskey was co-founded by Fawn Weaver from her desire to give credit where credit was due. Nathan “Nearest” Green was the first African-American master distiller on record in the United States. Uncle Nearest, as he was affectionately called, has been credited with teaching Jack Daniel how to make whiskey. And we know what happened from there…

Uncle Nearest Whiskey has three different offerings: 1820 which is aged a minimum of 11 years, 1856 Premium Aged which is aged between 8 and 14 years, and the 1884 Small Batch. Next time you are in the mood for a “Jack & Coke”, replace that Jack with Uncle Nearest!

The Real Black Santa
Black Santa.JPG

The Real Black Santa is located in the state of Georgia. Because of the "secret" nature of Santa's identity, we'll just refer to him as Mr. Sinclair. The photo was taken over the holidays when Mr. Sinclair paid a visit to our monthly neighborhood Meet & Greet where he took photos with the kids and read them stories.

The best part about The Real Black Santa is that he shows our kids that they can really be anything...even Santa Claus. (And yes, that's his real beard!)

Meet a real-life JJ Evans. Seriously though, Corey Barksdale is an artist who owns the Creative Art Connection. The reason I mentioned JJ Evans is due to the similarity of Corey’s art style with the infamous 70’s sitcom icon. Originally from Nashville, Corey was born into a family of artists and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Atlanta College of Art.

Corey’s style focuses on mural art and African-American art by utilizing some of the bold colors found in African art. If you are looking for that unique piece for your home or business, check out Corey’s website to commission a painting.
